First Steps
Every dream has a beginning.
The ideas for turning Boyd, Kentucky into a small artist haven have been kicking around in my head for years. There is no mistaking this project is going to take huge amounts of time and dedication by everyone involved along with big buckets of money.
Basically, those are realities. Money and time. The more time and money dedicated to this project, the greater the number of artists the Nebo Road Arts Foundation can offer the gift of living free and the ability to create in Boyd, Kentucky.
Now we are focusing on the beginning. The plan is simple. Progress in small steps. When added together over time, these small steps will build Nebo Road Arts into the community we are someday hoping to see in Boyd.
The first tiny step is the The Little House project that just got underway. The house has been gutted down to the bones and is getting a full rehab from the top down. A small addition on the back of the home will create a new bathroom and laundry area while updating the heating and cooling. With a new metal roof, windows and other remodeling, this two bedroom home will accommodate two artists and is a quick thirty second walk down Nebo Road to the future studio space in the old Spicer General Store building which is in the beginning phase.
We see Nebo Road Arts as a place that if it affords just one artist a place to live and create, it will be a success.
Tiny steps moving toward great things.
